Hi! I'm Megan! I'm a 20-year-old sports photographer passionate about capturing memories through a lens. I am a third year at Penn State University majoring in photojournalism and minoring in sports studies. My favorite sports to photograph are hockey and lacrosse. When i’m not doing photography, you can probably find me either listening to Lizzy McAlpine, doing yoga or watching hockey.

My Story
From a young age, I have had a passion for photography. During my freshman year of high school, I enrolled in my school's yearbook class, where I began to explore photography in a more professional perspective. This experience not only taught me how to operate a professional camera but also provided me with valuable skills in lighting techniques, various photography styles, photo editing and more. I continued to take the yearbook class throughout all four years of high school, during which I earned many leadership opportunities. I gained extensive experience photographing sports games and school events, managing social media accounts and serving as the photographer for several sports teams. By my junior year, it became clear to me that photography was not only a passion but also a career path I wanted to pursue.
Once I recognized that photography - specifically sports photography - was the career path I wanted to pursue, I then focused on identifying top schools with strong photojournalism programs. After being accepted to Penn State, I immediately felt a sense of belonging upon stepping on campus. I chose to apply to The Daily Collegian, one of the university's student news organizations, which includes both a print newspaper and an online platform for publishing articles. Upon meeting the photo team, I realized I had found my community. Since joining, I have gained valuable experience and I am currently serving as a senior photographer.
The Daily Collegian
The Daily Collegian is an independently student run newspaper publication on Penn State's University Park campus. They report on anything from sports, student life, news, crime, etc. They publish a physical paper each week and have a website where articles are posted as well.
As a senior photographer, I get opportunities to photograph news events, campus life, and sports. I have learned many crucial techniques and skills through editing with AP Style, captioning, and more.
